Since our move from 156 Arundel Street late last year we've had our Mediawerx hats firmly on and have been really busy setting up the forthcoming Studio Three space. As such; our 3D printing and robotics projects have been pretty much on hold.
Buckle up buddy; we're moving
The new space is fantastic and our little maker space is taking shape in it's very own dedicated suite, there's not a huge amount of room in there but for getting stuff done it's totally fine and we have the 2,000 ft² main space and mezzanine area should we need to burst out on occasion.
We have been able to scratch our robotics itch from time to time with our new friend, the details which we'll save for another post and we've also been working on our own robotics project that we'll open source as soon as we're ready.
So... back to our InMoov
We've been working on joining and updating the STL files to allow larger piece prints and have been incorporating some of the better modifications by other contributors along the way and plan to get back onto that again very soon and start printing off the remaining parts.
Our InMoov currently doesn't have the arms attached and we'll probably end up reprinting the entire chassis before we get back to work on the arms anyway but the project is far from dead. Our work with the Intel NUC and NVIDIA Jetson boards has been very promising to give our InMoov a better "brain" so work will also continue on integrating these components into the main chassis as well.
Building InMoov has been extremely fun and challenging, sure, we could've built the robot ages ago by sticking to the script but during the build we decided to change things in order to make better use of our larger format printers and contribute to the project in some way as we did so. Changes to the computational power has been part of our desire to create something that is far more "aware" and capable of doing greater things.
All of this will take time but isn't that what it's all about? Experimentation and innovation is what drives us. It's a very long road but we're enjoying the journey.
